What Habit Garden stores on your device

Your settings (theme, notification preference) and scheduled reminders are stored on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.

What we receive

Habit Garden needs an account so your habits and garden are backed up and available on any phone you sign in on. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password.

When you use your account we store:

  • Account details: your email address, the name you choose to show, and a user ID. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address that service shares with us (with Apple you can hide your email address).
  • Your habits: each habit's name, icon, schedule and reminder time.
  • Your progress: which habits you completed on which days, your points and streaks, and your garden.
  • A push token for your device, so we can send notifications if you allow them.

We use this only to run Habit Garden for you. We do not sell it or share it with advertisers, and we do not read your habits except where needed to fix a problem you report. Other data that leaves your device goes to the services listed below.

Deleting your account. Open Profile and tap “I want to delete my account data”. After you confirm it is you, your account and everything stored with it (habits, progress, garden and stats) are permanently deleted.

Accounts and cloud storage (Firebase)

This app uses Google Firebase Authentication to sign you in and Cloud Firestore to store your account data so it is backed up and available after you reinstall. Google processes this data on our behalf as a processor, on servers that may be outside the UK. More information: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)

If you allow notifications, this app uses Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver them. Your device is given a push token, which is stored with your account so notifications reach the right device. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your device settings.

App configuration (Firebase Remote Config)

This app uses Google Firebase Remote Config to download content and settings, so we can update them without a new app version. To do this it sends an app-instance identifier and basic device information (app version, OS, language). No personal content is sent.

Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)

This app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. It records usage events (for example which screens are opened and how long sessions last), basic device information (model, OS version, app version, language), approximate location derived from your IP address, and an app-instance identifier. Google processes this data on our behalf. More information: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

This app shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve, limit, measure and (where you allow it) personalise ads, Google and its partners may collect and process:

  • device identifiers such as the advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android), where your device settings allow it;
  • approximate location derived from your IP address;
  • ad interaction and usage data, such as impressions and clicks;
  • diagnostic and performance data about ad delivery, and basic device information (model, OS version, language).

How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can limit ad personalisation in your device settings (iOS: Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking; Android: Settings › Google › Ads).

More about Habit Garden

Your choices about ads. Where the law requires it, personalised ads are only shown with your consent, and on iPhone and iPad tracking needs your permission. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads. In the UK and EEA you can change your ad choices at any time from Profile › Ad privacy settings.

Reminders. Habit reminders are scheduled on your device. You can turn them off for any habit, or for the whole app in Profile.

Children

Habit Garden is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Retention and deletion

Your account data is kept for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account and all of its data at any time from inside the app; deletion is permanent and takes effect immediately. Data stored only on your device is deleted when you delete the app. Data held by third-party services is kept under their own retention policies, linked above. To ask us to delete anything we hold about you, email privacy@shonidigital.com.

Legal bases (UK GDPR)

Personalised advertising, and analytics or similar technologies that access information on your device, rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Non-personalised ad delivery, ad measurement, fraud prevention, crash fixing and keeping the app secure rely on our legitimate interests. Running your account and storing your data rely on performance of a contract (providing the app to you).

International transfers

Some of the services above are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Those providers rely on lawful transfer mechanisms such as UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge) or the UK addendum to standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to its use, ask for it in a portable format, and withdraw consent. Email privacy@shonidigital.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.

Changes

We will update this page if Habit Garden’s data practices change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Our website’s own privacy policy is at https://shonidigital.com/privacy/.
